Thank you for joining us at the second annual ONE LIFE Gala in support of the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation.

All members of our amazing volunteer committee have been hard at work over the past year to put this special evening together and I thank each and every one of them for their passion and commitment to this cause.

The support of our generous sponsors has made this event possible and we sincerely thank all of them for their leadership in philanthropy and their ongoing support.

I hope that tonight you will be inspired by the stories of our impressive honorees, enjoy the delectable food and great line up of entertainment and help us raise funds for research leading to early detection of cancer that can save so many lives and positively impact the well being of multitudes of families.

I’d like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone attending and supporting our second annual One Life Gala. Thank you all so much!

First, I would like to acknowledge and send a very special ‘thank you’ to our One Life Gala chair, Tina Tehranchian, for her bold vision, boundless energy and incredible commitment. Most importantly, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to each of the honourees here with us tonight. These fearless cancer survivors have kindly shared their own unique story, each of which demonstrates remarkable resilience, hope and triumph.

At The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, our vision is to Conquer Cancer In Our Lifetime. Cancer is still the leading cause of death here in Canada. But, together, we are making progress. Today, 64 % of those diagnosed with cancer will survive. And if we can start to catch cancer earlier through genetic testing, and new technologies such as liquid biopsies, this number will continue to rise.

That’s why every dollar raised here tonight will support early detection. So that we can help save more lives.

Events like this and supporters like you are crucial to the early detection research that will allow us to keep sharing these inspirational stories of survival. And as we look to the future, I am grateful and know that together we can change outcomes––not just for patients here at The Princess Margaret, but for patients and families across Canada and around the world.

Nicole has worked in the TV industry for over 9 years, specializing in lifestyle + entertainment news. She is an adventure seeker, and passionate about the arts.

She attended Hawaii Pacific University on a full dance scholarship, returned home to attend Ryerson University, and in her third year did an exchange in Melbourne Australia; graduating with a Bachelor of Journalism.

Nicole joined the team at ET Canada in 2015 where she has interviewed A-listers like Meghan Markle, Gal Gadot, Chris Evans, Backstreet Boy AJ McLean, Nelly and so many others. She was backstage interviewing the Victoria Secret Angels at the Victoria Secret Fashion Show in Paris, and has been front row covering New York Fashion Week.

Nicole has hosted events like City Moguls fashion show, Children’s Make A Wish Christmas Fundraiser, Southlake Hospital Fundraiser, and the Vaughan International Film Festival.

More recently she worked as the Live Eye reporter at Breakfast Television, Canada’s Best Morning Show (CSA Award Winner for 2 years in a row). Nicole currently produces for the W Network, is a brand ambassador on TSC, and hosts a weekly show entitled Things To Know in T.O. highlighting local events and businesses in the city.
