This gala has been in the making since early 2019 so it gives me and the entire ONE LIFE Gala committee immense pleasure to see it come to fruition.

I would like to thank our sponsors for their generosity and support, our gala committee for their hard work, dedication and perseverance, and Kat Aptekar of the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation for the excellent support that she provided us with. I would also like to thank Neville and Lorraine Kirchmann, for being the best honorary chairs I have ever worked with, and each and every one of our honourees for sharing their impactful stories with us.

Most importantly, many thanks to all of our attendees for joining us to help raise funds for one of the most important institutions in this country and the world, while enjoying an unforgettable evening of inspiration, sumptuous food and riveting entertainment.

CEO of Princess Margaret
Cancer Foundation

Hello and thank you very much for supporting the inaugural One Life Gala. It is wonderful to be able to re-connect after many months of lockdown.

I would like to acknowledge and thank the Gala’s Chair, Tina Tehranchian, co-chairs Lorraine and Neville Kirchmann and all committee members for their hard work organizing this event.

We have a unique evening planned for you. The highlight will be a one-of-a-kind blend of storytelling with cancer survivors dressed in haute couture sharing their stories of resilience, hope and triumph. I would like to personally thank all survivors here tonight for their courage and generosity.

All funds raised tonight will support The Magic Castle, a play area for children, whose parents are undergoing treatment at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. The centre will also welcome children who are cancer patients themselves. The Magic Castle is the only one of its kind in an adult cancer centre in Canada, and solely funded through philanthropy. The Centre offers drama, games and therapeutic play for children up to 12 years during what can be an isolating and frightening time.

At The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, our vision is to Conquer Cancer In Our Lifetime. Cancer is the leading cause of death in Canada. But, we are making progress. Today, 64 % of those diagnosed with cancer will survive.

Our Foundation continues to thrive thanks to events and supporters like you. As we look to the future, I am very grateful and know that together we can do so much, not just for Princess Margaret patients, but for cancer patients across Canada and around the world.

Nicole Servinis

Nicole has worked in the TV industry for over 9 years, specializing in lifestyle + entertainment news. She is an adventure seeker, and passionate about the arts.

She attended Hawaii Pacific University on a full dance scholarship, returned home to attend Ryerson University, and in her third year did an exchange in Melbourne Australia; graduating with a Bachelor of Journalism.

Nicole joined the team at ET Canada in 2015 where she has interviewed A-listers like Meghan Markle, Gal Gadot, Chris Evans, Backstreet Boy AJ McLean, Nelly and so many others. She was backstage interviewing the Victoria Secret Angels at the Victoria Secret Fashion Show in Paris, and has been front row covering New York Fashion Week.

Nicole has hosted events like City Moguls fashion show, Children’s Make A Wish Christmas Fundraiser, Southlake Hospital Fundraiser, and the Vaughan International Film Festival.

More recently she worked as the Live Eye reporter at Breakfast Television, Canada’s Best Morning Show (CSA Award Winner for 2 years in a row). Nicole currently produces for the W Network, is a brand ambassador on TSC, and hosts a weekly show entitled Things To Know in T.O. highlighting local events and businesses in the city.
